Saint Agata Festival in Catania

Every year during the first week of February the city of Catania celebrates its patron saint, Agata. It involves decorating the city with lights, each church parades huge a sculpture up the main street and people carry candles (big and small) to pay homage, and it's all followed up with the saint's remains being dragged up the streets. It's basically a week long party.

Via Etnea decorated and lit up.

This is how they carry the cultures. A bunch of guys carry it using their heads and shoulders.

Locals burning candles for Saint Agata.
